Abstract(s)
The importance and impact of Media are widely recognized as major influencers on a spiritual and emotional level, and can affect our life, way to of thinking, behavior, wellbeing and health. Another way to influence these states is through Meditation, a practice that describes a state of consciousness in which the mind is free from thought s and has been developed and used in various cultures with the aim of promoting self-awareness and transformation, being able to contribute as a support of this practice. One of the current challenges continues to be the effective modeling of the meditative state associated with Media through the use of sensors to evaluate in real time the physio-logical responses while watching Media content, videos in particular. Video is a very rich medium that provides large amounts of information, having great potential in inducing emotional, physical and psychological states, and can be a good support for learning and meditative practice. Our project aimed at designing and developing the Media4WellBeing application of customized support for access, video exploration, based on its impact on the user’s meditative state, measured through a physiological sensor. The functionalities developed allow the search and visualization of videos and the state of meditation in real time; video collection and self-reporting in a personal journal; and analysis of evolution overtime, in order to increase the user’s awareness of these physiological dimensions inherent in his meditative practice, so that he can have a better perception and a way to regulate his well-being, contributing to his personal development. The evaluation performed with users had very encouraging results and was an asset for future work.
