Práticas de gestão de equipamentos médicos no Hospital da Luz

Num hospital, o Engenheiro Biomédico pode desenvolver trabalhos bastante variados tais como a manutenção de equipamentos, o desenvolvimento de novas técnicas de obtenção de imagens médicas ou práticas de gestão de equipamentos. O estágio no Hospital da Luz permitiu obter uma visão geral do funcionamento de uma unidade de saúde e de todos os equipamentos que nela existam e, posteriormente um contacto e participação em algumas manutenções a que estes são sujeitos constantemente. Na primeira fase desenvolvi uma base de dados com informações relevantes sobre os equipamentos médicos e que apresenta especial interesse para a gestão dos mesmos. Esta base de dados inclui a marca, o modelo, uma breve descrição do equipamento, o número de série e de imobilizado e ainda uma referência ao espaço físico onde se encontra o equipamento. Deve-se também ter em conta outros aspectos importantes tais como: o início e fim de garantia; o tipo de manutenções; as calibrações necessárias bem como um registo das intervenções efectuadas e respectivo planeamento. Na fase seguinte estive envolvida no processo de certificação pela ISO 9001-2008, no âmbito dos Sistemas de Gestão de Qualidade, tendo efectuado o controlo de equipamentos médicos, nomeadamente no que se refere à sua operacionalidade, contratos de manutenção e calibração. Paralelamente ao trabalho desenvolvido nestas fases, tive ainda a oportunidade de acompanhar e participar em vários processos distintos, nomeadamente, a manutenção da angiografia estereotáxica e substituição de alguns dos seus equipamentos, a manutenção da PET – CT, a reparação de um ventilador, o processo de instalação de uma Ressonância Magnética, a manutenção do sistema cirúrgico Da Vinci, entre outros.
Biomedical Engineers carries out a vast range of work in a hospital environment, like developing new techniques for medical images acquisition, maintenance of equipment or databases development, among many other things. The internship at Hospital da Luz allowed me an overview of how a health unit works and all the existing equipments, as well as the contact with the maintenance that they constantly go through. In the first stage, I developed a database with important information about the medical equipments and with special interest for their management. This database includes the brand, model, a brief description of the equipment, the serial number, the number of fixed assets and also the space where the equipment is. I also had to take into account important aspects such as the beginning and the end of the warranty, the type of maintenance, the necessary calibrations, as well as all the equipment intervention and schedules. In the following stage, I participated in the certification process of some hospital services by ISO 9001-2008 within the Quality Management System. My participation in this project consisted of medical equipment control, particularly as regards its operational, maintenance contracts and calibration. Alongside both phases I had the opportunity to monitor and participate in several distinct processes, namely, a stereotatic angiography maintenance and replacement of some of their equipment, a PET-CT maintenance, a fan repair, the MRI installation process, the maintenance of Da Vinci surgical system, among others.
