coparentalidade e abrir portas ao estudo do impacto do apoio social nesta relação, no contexto
The present study aims to expand the field of research on coparenting relationship and open doors to study the impact of social support on this relationship in the context of social neighborhood. This study investigated the association between perceived social support (guidance and reliable alliance) and coparenting (coparental cooperation and conflict) between 100 coparental figures living in a social neighborhood, in the Lisbon metropolitan area, under the PER program. Further it was examined the moderating role of coparental pair, the sex of the child/youth and employment status. We used self-report instruments to access the perceptions of coparental figures about coparenting and perceived social support. The results showed that guidance was positively associated with coparental cooperation and negatively with coparental conflict. The employment status had a role in moderating the relationship between perceived social support and coparenting: parents who do not work and perceive greater provision of guidance, show more coparental cooperation and less coparental conflict. Moderators sex of the child/youth and parental and pair configuration revealed no moderating effects. The results of this study will be discussed in relation to their implications for intervention for coparenting within a community context. Directions for future research are also discussed.
