Esta dissertação procura sistematizar e analisar o fenómeno histórico da introdução do relógio mecânico em Portugal, fazendo atenção às implicações científicas, técnicas, sociais, religiosas, económicas, culturais e políticas. O período analisado compreende 600 anos (de 1377 a 1977) e trata a relojoaria mecânica nas suas versões grossa, média e fina. A dissertação procura coligir toda a informação relevante e traçar as principais linhas desses acontecimentos.
These dissertation looks to the systematization of the historical phenomenon of the introduction of the mechanichal clock and watch in Portugal, underlining its scientific, technical, social, religious, economic, cultural, and political implications. The analysis comprehends 600 years (from 1377 to 1977), and deals with, respectively, non-portable and portable mechanisms made to work in a single or any position. The dissertation looks for all the related relevant information and points to the maining lines of these events.
