Este texto tenta fazer um balanço do estudo da história das relações económicas internacionais em Portugal. Constata, em primeiro lugar, numa análise geral, que a pesquisa sobre história das relações económicas internacionais tem incidido principalmente sobre a história das relações económicas internacionais de Portugal, e bastante menos sobre a história do sistema económico internacional em geral. Debruça-se, depois, sobre as principais teses apresentadas sobre três temas: o papel de Portugal na formação do sistema económico internacional de âmbito mundial; as consequências das relações económicas de Portuga l com o centro do sistema económico internacional para a evolução estrutural da economia portuguesa; e as consequências das relações económicas de Portugal com a periferia do sistema económico internacional para essa mesma evolução estrutural.
This text attempts to survey the studies on the history of International economic relations in Portugal.To begin with, it States, in a more general analysis, that the research on the history of international economic relations in Portugal has focussed mainly on the history of the international economic relations of Portugal and clearly less on the history of the international economic system in general. Next, it considers the main theses presented on three topics: the role of Portugal in the formation of the world international economic system; the consequences of the economic relations of Portugal with the center of the international economic system for the structural evolution of the Portuguese economy; and the consequences of the economic relations of Portugal with the periphery of the international economic system for this same structural evolution.
