- Aproximação às metodologias de cartografia de vegetação - aplicação à vegetação de MombejaPublication . Arsénio, PedroO presente trabalho constitui uma aproximação às técnicas de cartografia temática de vegetação, recorrendo às modernas tecnologias de aquisição de informação geográfica tais como o Global Positioning System (GPS) e aos sistemas informáticos genericamente conhecidos por Sistemas de Informação Geográfica (SIG). Foi executado o estudo da vegetação espontânea de uma região inserida nos concelhos de Beja e Ferreira do Alentejo que corresponde sensivelmente à área compreendida entre as vilas de Beringel, Peroguarda e Mombeja. A área estudada consta da Proposta Preliminar da Lista Nacional de Sítios de Interesse Comunitário (Continente) (1996), sob o número 88, constituindo uma das áreas propostas para integrar a Rede NATURA 2000. O estudo incidiu sobre as orientações contidas na Directiva 92/43/CEE - «Directiva Habitats», nomeadamente no que diz respeito aos valores florísticos e da vegetação natural com interesse para conservação. Foram aplicadas as metodologias da designada Fitossociologia Paisagista, bem como o método de classificação TWINSPAN para a caracterização das formações vegetais encontradas, procedendo-se em seguida à sua cartografia, em formato vectorial.

Vasconcelos, Maria Teresa; Monteiro, Ana; Moreira, I.; Sousa, E.; Arsénio, PedroThe habitats of the natural vegetation concerning the region between the localities Peroguarda, Beringel and Mombeja are presented. Based on the reasonable conservation and floristic diversity of the natural vegetation on the center of the extense cereal country on the South Alentejo province, the atrihution of a conservation status is proposed. Besides the well represented species which are described, the value of the site is enhanced by the presence of the rare species Adonis amua L. ssp. annua, Cynara tournefortii Boiss. & Reuter, Echium boissieri Steudel and Linaria hirta (L.) Moench. The phytosociological assotiations and its syntaxomie are presented and the habitas cited on Directive 92/43/EEC are referred: 92A0 - ash mediterranean ripanan galleries; 3280 constantly flowing meditermean rivers; 5330 - all types of thermo-mediterranean and pre-step pe brush; 6220 - pseudo-steppe with grasses and annnuals; 63 10 - sclerophillus grazed forest with the holmoaks
- Vegetação potencial das margens das ribeiras do AlgarvePublication . Espírito-Santo, Maria Dalila; Costa, José Carlos; Capelo, J.; Arsénio, PedroDuring the summer and fall of 1998, a field survey was conducted in the temtory adjacent to the main waterways of the Algarve region, regarding the flora and vegetation of temestrial systems associated to rivers. These studies where integrated in the Hidrographic Ba.in Plan for Algarve's Rivers, aiming to recognise and establish the main landscape units that form the mosaic of the referred temtory. This communication presents the results of the survey relative to the syccessional stages of Algarve's riparian vegetation, adjacent vegetation and also salt marshes and dunes vegetation. The recognition of the region's potentiai natural vegetation, in order to evaluate the riparian vegetation's conservation state, is obtained through the use of an easy-touse field fom.
