Franco, Ana Margarida Lopes, 1993-; Reis, Jorge dos, 1971-; Cópio, SilviaThis work intends to propose a new museum project of a temporary exposure entitled A arte no concelho de Vila Franca de Xira - Grandes Obras (inaugurated on February 28th, 2014 and ended on October 25th, 2015), with a vast collection of pieces from various villages and private collections. It also aims to focus on key aspects of museology and museography based on methodologies and concepts based on this specific area. The critical exploration and analysis of some concrete examples as exposures and sacred art museums allowed the proposal of effective methods of sacred art objects exposure and, consequently, their appreciation and fruition. In this work, we have also proposed a risk plan and preventive conservation for chosen collection pieces. This collection comprised sacred art objects which were exposed in museological context, as a safeguard of their value. The creation of a digital museological space was the last step and served to visualize and study the best way to dispose, organize and communicate with the public. The idea consisted to use an existing space, the temporary gallery’s Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and organize the pieces of selected exposure to create an itinerant route easy to read by visitors. For the elaboration of this work it was necessary to understand the whole surrounding that relates the religious component with the reality of a museum space, where the displacement of an object outside its religious space imposes to the circumstances of its entry into a museum space and which barriers this movement creates for the reinterpretation of the sacred object
