Com este propósito, foram aplicadas as versões portuguesas dos seguintes instrumentos: Death Attitude Profile Revised (DAP-R, Wong, Reker e Guesser, 1994), o Purpose in life test (PIL, Crumbaugh e Maholik, 1964), e o Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS, Zigmond e Snaith, 1983). A amostra é constituída por 281 profissionais de saúde com formação em áreas distintas e com diferentes graus de exposição ocupacional à morte. Os resultados encontrados corroboram a tese de que um elevado sentido de vida protege os indivíduos de atitudes negativas perante a morte bem como de sintomas angodepressivos sendo esta protecção particularmente visível em situação de maior exposição ocupacional à morte.This study main purpose is to investigate the impact that occupational death exposure has on death attitudes in healthcare professionals. It also aims to understand how the variable “meaning in life” can minorate this impact as well as predict diferential levels of anxiety and depression in healthcare professionals with different occupational dealth exposure. In order to attain this purpose, three instruments were selected: Death Attitude Profile Revised (DAP-R, Wong, Reker and Guesser, 1994), the Purpose in life test (PIL, Crumbaugh and Maholik, 1964), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS, Zigmond and Snaith, 1983). The sample is composed by 281 healthcare professionals with different training backgrounds and experiencing different occupational death exposure.
