Pelo contrário, sugerimos que elas sejam vistas tendo em conta as noções sóciocosmológicas locais.</dcterms:abstract><dcterms:abstract>This thesis arises from a fragility felt in most of the existing literature on religious beliefs and traditions in Southern Mozambique: the relationship between theoretical models and ethnographic reality. Many studies on religious beliefs and traditions, particularly those focusing on Zion Churches, emphasize a Durkheimian argument based on notions of solidarity and cohesion. Most of these studies assume that religious movements such as Zion churches developed and became relevant in the local religious landscape because they were able to enhance solidarity networks between their members, responding to poverty and violence caused either by war and post-war scenarios or by the impact of policies of globalization and difficulties of the State to ensure basic assistance to the people. By challenging the theoretical perspectives of these studies with recent ethnographic data on the Zion Churches in Southern Mozambique, we try to demonstrate the benefits of new theoretical frameworks that do no regard the beliefs and religious traditions as aiming to solve the problems of individuals or local groups. Rather, we suggest that they should be analysed taking into consideration deeper local socio-cosmological conceptions.</dcterms:abstract><dcterms:advisor>Sarró, Ramon, 1962-</dcterms:advisor></record></value></md><md shared="false"><mid>15355</mid>

<type>text_md</type><value>
